Firing an air weapon charge discontinued against our client
Carson Kaye are pleased to announce another successful outcome for one of our clients.
On 15 June 2026, Kat Demby attended Croydon Magistrates’ Court to represent an individual charged with firing an air weapon beyond premises contrary to section 21A of the Firearms Act 1968. Ms Demby made submissions to the Court that the matter should be adjourned for our firm to draft a letter of representations in pursuance of discontinuance. Despite the Crown’s opposition, the Court were persuaded by Ms Demby’s arguments and granted her application to adjourn the matter.
The case was then referred to Ghislaine Sandoval, who has a particular interest in securing discontinuance of charges against her clients. Miss Sandoval dealt with the matter expeditiously by drafting a lengthy letter of representations, liaising closely with the District Prosecutor, and attaining discontinuance in less than the two-week adjournment period granted, avoiding the need for her client and all parties to attend Court, saving Court time and resources.
